Jewels For a Cause

cuffVanleles, a high-end brand by founder and head designer Vania Leles, presents riveting collections – the Sahara collection crafted in ethical gold and diamonds, and the Out of Africa line dedicated to Mozambican rubies and rubellites.
For the Sahara collection, Vania notes that she was impressed by the work being done at Women for Women International in Africa and beyond. The 17-year-old charity organisation in Western Africa serves over 56,000 women through their programme in Nigeria alone. “I was blown away by the stories of compassion, resilience and bravery. With limited access to health services and education, patriarchal norms, and mounting violence, Nigerian women continually struggle to gain economic opportunities and equality. I’m proud to partner with them and launch my first ethical gold and diamond collection, Sahara.”
The elegant collection is crafted from Fairtrade gold and delicately adorned with ethically sourced diamonds. As always, Africa serves as Vania’s muse, and she draws inspiration from the rooftops of traditional desert and West African tribal houses, using their cone-shaped form to create the centrepiece of each of her designs. The collection has been launched in the UK and US, priced from £3,000 onwards.
The Out of Africa collection exalts the beauty of Mozambique’s rubies and rubellites. The capsule collection consists of four dramatic pairs of earrings, two cocktail rings, and a choker composed with a combination of large pear-shaped rubellites and round brilliant rubies. The bold singular colour with slightly differing hues lends a contemporary touch with diamonds, highlighting the dramatic red of the gems.
