KNOTTED AFFAIR

Actor Suhasi Dhami unveiled the Forevermark Encordia collection at Kundan Jewellers’ store in Mumbai recently. On the occasion, Forevermark, the diamond brand from the De Beers Group of companies, forged a new partnership with Kundan Jewellers.

Forevermark’s Encordia collection was the subject of attention at another event at the DLF Emporio in Delhi, celebrating the season of love. The collection, inspired by the ancient Greek Knot of Herakles, features exquisite contemporary jewellery including rings, bracelets, pendants and earrings.

LOVE-STRUCK

Long-legged Bollywood beauty Anushka Sharma announced the launch of Gitanjali Group’s Season of Love offer. The jewellery group, under the banner of ‘Leading Jewelers of the World’ launched a new offer on diamond jewellery to add sparkle to Valentine’s Day. Anushka also unveiled the new Valentine collection from Gili, a Gitanjali brand for modern women. Looking scintillating in a red dress, Anushka admired Gili’s latest chic collection.

VINTAGE CHARM

The lush lawns at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai were packed with vintage beauties at the third edition of Cartier Travel with Style Concours. The extravaganza showcased some of the rarest and well-preserved automobiles from the early half of the 20th century.

Each year, the event attracts greater success due to collectors’ passion for classic cars and a growing awareness of the need to preserve a unique heritage. The show was curated by automobile expert Manvendra Singh of Barwani and judged by Prince Michael of Kent.

Erstwhile royals and automobile aficionados from across the country displayed their prized possessions. The Rolls- Royce 1935 Phantom II owned by Maharaja Gaj Singh II of Jaipur won the best car title, while the best motorcycle was an Indian 1915 owned by Subodh Nath.

Gautam Singhania, John Abraham, Natasha and Adar Poonawalla, Maria Gorretti, Narendra Kumar, Haseena Jethmalani, Rita Dhody, Reshma Bombaywala, Yuvrani Sangita Sinh of Kathiwada, Nisha Jamvwal and Vivek Goenka among several others were lured out of their homes on a Sunday afternoon to admire the automobiles on display.

KEEPING WITH THE TIMES

Much to Indian horologists’ delight, Hrithik Roshan launched Rado’s new HyperChrome collection in India. The 32-model collection represents a step forward in design for the Swiss master of materials. The collection features sporty chronographs with a 45mm high-tech ceramic monobloc case that is ultra-lightweight.

Talking about the collection, brand ambassador Hrithik Roshan said, “I am proud to be associated with a brand like Rado. The brand values reflect my own desire to always push myself to work harder and achieve more.” The collection was launched in the presence of top officials from Rado and Popley.

MATCHING SPIRIT

During a polo event held in the city of Jodhpur, Jaeger-LeCoultre presented two of its iconic Reverso watches which pay tribute to 1931, the year of its birth, as a token of their appreciation to the winners of the British Polo Day celebratory match. The three- day event was kickstarted with The Royal Polo Gala Dinner welcoming guests from varying corners of the world.

The dinner was a star-studded affair graced by the presence of the Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur among other honorable guests. The celebrations continued into the evening with a fashion show exhibiting the designs of the world’s leading milliner Phillip Treacy OBE.

Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso’s connection with the sport goes back to when British polo players in the Indian Army requested a reversible case to protect the dial and the glass from possible shocks during the match.

JET SET, GO!

Designer Pradeep Jethani, known for his specialised designer jewellery, inaugurated his flagship store Jet Gems at Turner Road in Mumbai. Pradeep Jethani and his wife Angeli hosted a celebratory evening at the store. A purple carpet greeted guests as they made their way into the store. Friends and family including Karisma Kapoor, Anita Dongre, Rakshanda Khan, Neeta Lulla, Sunidhi Chauhan, and Sanjay Suri made their presence felt at the store.

Krishika Lulla, who is also the face of the Jet Gems campaign, as well as Vidya Malvade and Sangeeta Bijlani wore Pradeep Jethani creations. Guests sipped on emerald green and ruby red mocktails as they admired the jewellery on display.

SPARKLING AFFAIR

P. C. Chandra Jewellers of Kolkata launched an exquisite diamond collection, D’Elite, amidst much glamour and fanfare. Renowned models like Indrani Dasgupta, brand ambassador for the D’Elite diamond collection, Hasleen Kaur, Candice Pinto, Aanchal Kumar, Aanchal Oberoi, Sanya Sheikh, Sonalika Sahay, Tina Chatwal, and Kanika walked the ramp adorned in the new collection. The show was choreographed by Rashmi Virmani, a leading name in the fashion industry.

A combination of brilliant design and impeccable craftsmanship, the collection is about aristocratic charm, artsy combinations and radiant appeal. The designs include pieces in rubies, emeralds, pearls, diamonds in various complimenting cuts, stunning gemstones ranging from modern fusion jewellery to gorgeous wedding collections.

FASHION FOR A CAUSE

Varuna D Jani, Neeta Lulla and Anu Ranjan joined hands with NGO Beti to organize a celebrity fashion fundraising movement titled ‘No More Fear’ aimed at generating support for rape victims. Achla Sachdev choreographed an amalgamation of entertainment, dance and fashion which showcased beautiful outfits by Neeta Lulla and scintillating jewellery by Varuna D Jani.

Well-known personalities such as Zeenat Aman, Gulshan Grover, Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani, Rohit Roy, Alka Yagnik and Talat Aziz attended the do. Rohit Shetty, Dabboo Ratnani, Leena Mogre and Anjali Chabbria also lent their support to the cause. Sushmita Sen sizzled as the showstopper and interacted with rape victims present at the event.

EMPOWERING WOMEN

Dhanika Popley along with the Sheriff of Mumbai, Indu Shahani , launched ‘Celebrate Womanhood’, an initiative set up to salute the spirit of Indian women who strive hard in all spheres of their lives. The event held at Popley & Sons, Opera House, Mumbai, also saw the launch of the Laxman Popley Foundation that will encourage women empowerment programmes.

GOAN SOIREE

Vikram Raizada, executive director and CEO Retail at Tara Jewels Ltd, and Vaishali Joshi, in charge of Spic Macay – Goa & Events Consultant, hosted an exclusive preview of the recently launched Myra Collection over high tea at the Taj Vivanta in Goa which was attended by the crème’ de la crème.

While Vaishali Joshi, adorned with Tara jewels, played the gracious host, the guests were delighted by the Myra Collection’s intricate designs with flowing motifs studded with diamonds. Pallavi Dempo, Rakhi Salgaocar, Pallavi Salgaoncar, Dr. Divya Rane, Vinni Timblo, Sapana Sardesai, Sonali Salkar, Melinda Mendes, Ritu Sharma, Dr. Tosha Kurade, Zee Singh, Liza Menezes, Meghna Caculo, Shikha Trehan, Vinata Naik, Monica Bariya, Dr. Archana Despande and others were privy to the latest collection on display.

SPORTING PINK

Rio Tinto hosted the Argyle Pink Diamond Cup, a polo match between the Royal Jaipur polo team and the Western Australian polo team to celebrate rare pink diamonds from Rio Tinto’s Argyle mine.

The sporting event saw Maharani Padmini Devi, the acting Australian High Commissioner to India and senior Rio Tinto executives in attendance. Head of the Jaipur royal family, Maharaj Narendra Singh captained the winning Royal Jaipur team. This was followed by an invitation- only dinner at Jaipur’s City Palace where heirloom Argyle pink diamond jewellery pieces were showcased and worn by Pallavi Sharda, a rising Indo-Australian Bollywood star.
